Rhondda Cynon Taf meets to prepare for local elections

Rhondda Cynon Taf group held a special group meeting to prepare the manifesto for next year’s council elections. Delegates from Rhondda, Pontypridd, Aberdar and beyond contributed to the discussions. With the financial attack on local services and the failure of the Labour Party to ‘Stand up for Wales’ it is vital that we are organised and offer a coherent alternative.

Labour appears determined to strip councils of many services and hand them over to regional consortia. Education for instance is slowing being managed by an officer led committee covering RCT, the Vale, Bridgend, Merthyr and Caerffili.

All groups must have county wide and also individual ward manifestos ready by September 2011. This will allow time to ensure that the details are able to be used locally in the run up to the election.
